What We Do

For our library system to flourish, we need you. You have the ability to make an indelible mark on your community by giving to The Library Foundation.

A well-resourced library system with rich programming is an essential element of a thriving community. It helps families, entrepreneurs, job seekers, children, educators, retirees; everyone you know and people you’ll never even meet benefit from your contribution towards a healthy library system.

Public funding alone cannot support what we do. We need your help to enrich children’s lives, reach out to the homebound, bring nationally known speakers to our area, and so much more. The Library Foundation supports charitable giving for a strong and innovative Springfield-Greene County Library District. By ensuring that our library system thrives, we impact every corner of our community for generations. Explore this site to learn more about who we are and make a donation to your community library.

The Foundation Fund: Also known as The Book Endowment, this fund ensures that the Springfield-Greene County Library collections are current and complete.

The Cultural Arts Fund: This fund supports myriad cultural and educational initiatives that promote life-long learning.

The Annie Busch Endowment for Early Literacy: Gifts to this fund, named to honor former library director Annie Busch, support early literacy and school readiness programs.

Laton Endowment: This unrestricted fund provides annual income that allows the library to make purchases or add patron services that aren’t covered by property tax dollars. It was established in 2017 through a generous gift from longtime patron Ursula Maria Laton.

While we always gladly accept donations for these funds, many find that making a gift in their will or estate plan is the easiest way to make a significant contribution.

You can also establish a Named Endowment with a contribution or bequest of $10,000. Named endowments are a wonderful way to create a legacy and support your favorite library branch or programs.
