The Community Foundation of the Ozarks celebrated the Library’s successful February Endowment Challenge with other participating community groups at a reception Wednesday, March 14. The Library Foundation fundraising total of $13,210.51 earned another $5,000 from CFO.

But there was far more to celebrate, which explained the whopping $79,049.98 number that appeared on the giant check presented at the CFO celebration. Executive Director Regina Cooper explained that the Library received a final distribution from the Ursala Laton Trust in the amount of $60, 839.44. The distribution came in at the very end of the Endowment Challenge, and CFO decided to include it in the final amount. With that total, the new Laton Endowment is now over $500,000. The annual disbursement from that unrestricted fund can be used for Library needs.

We did it!

Everyone loves a happy ending and Schweitzer Brentwood Library patron David Jones provided one. Mr. Jones made a generous donation that put us over $10,000 for the February Endowment Challenge. This unlocks another $5,000 from the Community Foundation of the Ozarks for the Laton Endowment, an unrestricted fund that provides a new, sustainable source of income for the Library.

The Laton Endowment was created with a gift from longtime patron Ursala Maria Laton. Annual income from the endowment will allow us to make purchases or add patron services that aren’t covered by property tax dollars. As the endowment grows, so will usable income from the earnings. This will enable us to do more for the community.

The grand total raised for the February Endowment Challenge is $13,210.54 (net).

We love our donors, whether they gave $1,000 or $1 for a heart. Every day the Library is changing lives and making our community a better place. Your support makes all the difference. Thank you!
